30A- Final Reflection

Throughout all my blog posts this semester, I have certainly learned more about the entrepreneurship process. I would say that the best moment of the semester was when I figured out the idea for the elevator programming that would be my opportunity. Everyone always says, “Why didn’t I think of that,” so having been able to think of that idea is a blessing for me. If figuring out profitable ideas was the easiest part of the process, everyone would be doing it. I would say my least favorite part of the semester was probably the end of Summer A. The culmination of the classes and pressure from exams made that week’s assignments a little more difficult to finish.
I would say the lecture on writing a business plan is the experience in the class that was the most formative. I’ll remember it for years to come, and it gave me a better idea of the entrepreneurial process. The assignments that I enjoyed the most were probably the Required Readings. I recently do not have the drive to read outside of school, so these gave me an opportunity to get back into reading. It is this for which I feel most accomplished, I was a very avid read before high school and now lack the time or energy to enjoy books that can expand my knowledge of the world.
I believe that even before the class began, I had somewhat of an entrepreneurial mindset. Having come from a family’s small business and its multiple operations, I knew what it took to start and keep going a successful business. I have had that mentality in many facets, especially prevalent in the multiple clubs that I am a part of. Running them organizationally and financially, my experience and mindset is very important in making sure they are a success.
If I were to make a recommendation to the students about this course, it would be to watch the lectures as soon as they come out and take meticulous notes. The quiz questions are very specific and can be about almost anything in the lecture. I took down about 3,000 words per week in notes, and still wished I did better on several of the cupcakes. To perform best in this class, never miss an assignment and make sure to get them done early. I started finishing the assignments in advance to make time to watch the lectures and take other classes, and it is working out well so far. Having a lot of pressure on myself early in the semester was what fostered this mindset for me; making the final half of the semester seem easier.
