7A- Testing the Hypothesis, Part 1

Elevator programming is not optimized Most residential and commercial building elevators do not run on an a statistically optimal programming because of the lack of updates in the elevator industry, which affects patrons of the elevator multiple times, every day. Interview 1: Working man needs to get to work on time because he is bad with time. Must get out of his multi-story apartment fast and to his workplace quickly. Believes that the first person to hit the elevator button should be serviced first. Interview 2: College student who goes in and out of his apartment all day. Believes that a statistically optimized program would be the best solution. Interview 3 : College student who needs to get places quickly to be on time. Believes that the amenities floor should be prioritized over other floors. Interview 4 : Adult that spends most of his time in his apartment. Believes that the lobby should be prioritized over other floors. Interview 5 : Working adult that does no...

6A- Identifying Opportunities in Economic and Regulatory Trends

Four Opportunities Climate Change is Causing More Natural Disasters (Regulatory) TheBalance.com is a website with contributions from financial and economic authors on the world of personal finance. An opportunity exists in this area because, while this is about society, there is a profitable market. Rescue equipment, lobbying for regulatory change in conservation, sales of insurance to high or low-risk areas all make up the disaster industry. Customer with the opportunity : Uninformed, likely rural populations with varying amounts of assets and capital. They would be the easiest to target for all of the products and services listed above. This is an opportunity that would be relatively easy to exploit because of the state of the current world media. If a tornado happens in Kansas, everyone will be able to know about it within days and because of the way that the news can sometimes make natural disasters seem worse, it strike fear into the hearts of the population and makes ...

5A- Identifying Local Opportunities

Title: Sea turtle nesting season has arrived. Now get out of the turtles’ way. Link: https://www.tampabay.com/environment/sea-turtle-nesting-season-has-arrived-now-get-out-of-the-turtles-way-20190525/ Story Description: Sea Turtle Trackers, a group of volunteers aiming to help save the sea turtle population in Tampa Bay, have been working from the crack of dawn to preserve the baby turtle’s nests from human and nature. Problem: The sea turtle population’s drastic decrease has many concerned about the survival of the species and the life of the ecosystem with little funding and manpower to accomplish the preservation. Who Has the Problem: The problem truly lies with the ecosystem of the Gulf of Mexico, but the people who have the problem are concerned environmentalists trying their hardest to keep the species from extinction. 4A- Forming an Opportunity Belief

Elevators go too slow. My beginning point is that elevators could not possibly be optimally programmed to pick up passengers. In my apartment I can see where the elevators are at any moment when I am in the lobby, and the extra time the elevator takes gives me time to think about how inefficient they are. Everyone who uses an elevator, people who live in apartments or work in office buildings face this challenge more than once a day. The realized inefficiency of current elevators has only recently become available to me through living in an apartment building but has existed since the invention. There is no current action being taken to rectify this issue, people accept the timing of the elevator or take the stairs. I am 80% sure that this problem is realistic and practically significant in people’s minds. A prototypical customer is someone who lives in an apartment building with limited elevator access or someone who works in an office building. An available customer to talk to abou...

3A- My Entrepreneurship Story

Image
For this exercise, I would like to write about some of the hardships of being entrepreneurial. My family owns a small graphic design and printing business in Tampa, FL. My father started the company 30 years ago when he moved to Florida. For 27 years, he had only been located at two storefront properties, both in the same plaza. 3 years ago, the pizza place next to my family’s shop caught on fire and nearly burned down the entire building. The smoke damage to the surrounding storefronts was immense, and the owner of the pizza place walked away with an insurance check. The only employees of my father’s company are my immediate family. My mother and father handled the business operations while my brother and I worked in roles such as collating, taking large orders, and helping customers. The smoke damage to the store was so much that we considered closing the entire thing down and my parents retire, but there was too much capital located in the store that had depreciated in value. We...

2A- Bug List

Bug List 1)      When using a brush and dustpan, there is always a line of dirt trapped under the brim of the pan and you have to sweep a few more times to get everything. WHY: The design of the lip of the dustpan is poor. 2)      Elevators do not have optimal programming so they’re slower. WHY:   It would be too large of a expedition to reprogram every elevator 3)       Chipotle always seems to be out of a product and need to replace the bins often. WHY:   The restaurant is very busy and the bins are not large/deep enough. 4)      The Reitz and Heavener computer labs are never automatically connected to the printers and I don’t use them enough to remember how to link them. WHY:   The computers are not programmed to link automatically to the printers. 5)      Hallways in my apartment are never clean. WHY:   The apartment does not have employees to clea...
