11- Idea Napkin no. 1
I am a third-year business student
at the University of Florida hoping to graduate with a Master’s degree in
International Business after my fourth year at UF. My talents include sales and
graphic design, which are essential parts of the business development process.
I hope to be able to work hard enough in my first ten years out of college so
that the rest of my professional career can be a management level position.
This would be a part of my idea for elevator optimization, being able to be in
on the idea from the ground floor, no pun intended, then managing or owning the
company and being able to relax and reap the seeds of my early work.
I am offering an upgrade that can change
the lives of millions of people around the world, saving incremental amounts of
time in waiting for elevators using variations of a patented computer program
that customizes the elevator prioritization to the preferences of the building
owner or the elevator company that purchases the computer code.
I am offering the variations of the
programs to the real estate companies that make the buildings that require the
elevators or even sell to the elevator companies themselves. I would consider selling
exclusively to one elevator company if the price is right or even multiple industry
leaders.
These customers care because once
the programming is out in the world, it will be the gold standard for elevator
use. People notice when an elevator is running poorly, never when it is independently
running fast. If someone’s home elevator runs inefficiently, they will notice
the difference between that and their business’ elevator by comparison. Therefore,
the population will desire it and the customers will need to supply it.
What sets this idea apart from
others is that it is niche and in a stagnant industry. What my team will have
is this, the patented lines of code and its variations so that the idea and the
basics cannot be stolen and recreated by other efficiency firms or the
customers I wished to sell to.
The five
elements discussed above all mesh together, in my mind, having worked on this
idea for the past few weeks. The idea of in-house development of his program by
real estate companies is almost out of the question, it is simply not what they
specialize in. Working for an elevator company or starting my own, however, would
be hard to penetrate and raise new ideas. Working as an outside firm with no
limitations on my own ideas and not being a part of one specific industry gives
me and my workers the creative freedom to succeed and profit from our work.
Hey Jacob, I liked how you laid everything out in your post. I also think that your talents for sales and graphic design as awesome. Being efficient in those departments can help you a lot in obtaining your dream position. Additionally, I like how your plans for the future are very realistic. Keep grinding to you eventually get that position. Great post.
