14A- Halfway Reflection
1) What are the
behaviors that you have used (or developed) to keep up with the requirements of
this course? One of the behaviors that I
developed throughout the duration of this course is to get the assignments done
far ahead of time. If comments are due on a Monday, I will do them the Friday
before. I do all of the assignments for a week about a week ahead of time, just
to make sure that I can put all of the final touches on them and not be rushed,
as well as balancing this class with my more time-consuming courses.
2) Talk about a moment or two when you
felt like "giving up." What pulled you through? Do you feel like
you've developed a tenacious attitude during the past two months? What
experience or experiences most contributed to this? One of the moments that I felt like giving up during
this course was when I miserably failed an exam in one of my other courses. I
knew that it was not the end of the world, but I still was upset with the
result. It crossed my mind to drop one or two of my four courses this summer in
order to focus more on the others. However, I made the change that I mentioned
in the first section to streamline my summer work for all of my assignments in
all of my classes and now feel more confident that I can do well in them.
3) What are three tips you would offer
next semester's student about (1) fostering the skills that support tenacity
and (2) developing the 'tenacious mindset'?
Future students should go into this class with a positive mindset. I did not
expect this class to move at such a fast pace with so much coursework, but I am
learning from the assignments and the lectures, so there is not much to complain
about. Completing all of the coursework fosters the skills for such a class and
getting into a rhythm develops that required tenacious mindset.

ReplyDeleteI feel for you taking four courses during the summer as I am taking a heavy course load of 3 courses while working. Completing assignments early is necessary in ensuring you have enough time for the interviews and to compose a blog. I like how you suggested next semester students should start the class with a positive mindset. That will go a long way in how they approach the course.
Hey Jacob, your post was clear and nice to read. I'm taking 2 classes over the summer and even I get stressed sometimes. I couldn't fathom taking 4 classes over a summer period so hats off to you! You got this and keep doing your best to balance it all. Also, I thought your tips are also very true in order to be successful in this class.
