2A- Bug List

Bug List

1)     When using a brush and dustpan, there is always a line of dirt trapped under the brim of the pan and you have to sweep a few more times to get everything.
WHY: The design of the lip of the dustpan is poor.
2)     Elevators do not have optimal programming so they’re slower.
WHY: It would be too large of a expedition to reprogram every elevator
3)     Chipotle always seems to be out of a product and need to replace the bins often.
WHY: The restaurant is very busy and the bins are not large/deep enough.
4)     The Reitz and Heavener computer labs are never automatically connected to the printers and I don’t use them enough to remember how to link them.
WHY: The computers are not programmed to link automatically to the printers.
5)     Hallways in my apartment are never clean.
WHY: The apartment does not have employees to clean the hallways frequently.
6)     High capacity bike racks on campus are designed so that it is very hard to park two bikes next to each other.
WHY: The design do not compensate for two bike handles of equal height being parallel.
7)     The outlet in my living room is too far away to conveniently use a phone charger if you’re not sitting in the couch seat closest to the wall.
WHY: The phone charging cord is not long enough.
8)     The automatic doors to the Target near me open ½ a second too slowly, which is noticeable.
WHY: The programming is unique to this Target, not regular in other stores.
9)     The Business College advisers are seemingly never available.
WHY: I do not arrive early enough to the advisers or make an appointment.
10) Financial Aid advisers often do not have answers and forward me to others who also do not know about their jobs.
WHY: Unique customers require unique circumstances or the hires in this office are unqualified.
11) When I refill hand soap around my apartment, it is hard to judge where to stop pouring the new soap when I reinsert the pump mechanism and it ends up overflowing.
WHY: There is no designation of the capacity without the pump mechanism.
12) My mini fridge makes a great table to put stuff on but is too loud to sleep next to.
WHY: The mini fridge is working too hard.
13) The TV in my apartment has an Amazon Fire feature, but to get to internet access and streaming programs, another Fire feature is needed, so there are two remotes, one for turning the TV on and volume, and one for navigating the television.
WHY: The television feature is not signed in to the streaming services.
14) The coffee table in my living room is too light to rest my feet on without pushing it an awkward distance away.
WHY: The coffee table is not secured/too light.
15) My printer ran out of ink and I have no idea how to reinstall a new ink cartridge, which deters me from even buying any.
WHY: The cartridge compartment is not obvious.
16) The walls in my apartment show that any dirt or marks very clearly.
WHY: The paint is too light.
17) The buttons at traffic lights really do not seem to help make the traffic light go faster.
WHY: The programming does not coincide with the traffic lights.
18) Early UF football games do not have shade on the student side.
WHY: Scheduling is does not take into account the structure of the stadium.
19) There is a rack in my closet that is so close to a higher rack so that I cannot hang clothes on the higher rack.
WHY: The lower rack is too high, or the higher rack is too low.
20) The coaxial cable port my bedroom is far away from where the television is positioned so there is a large cable running across my room which is not aesthetically pleasing.
WHY: The television is too far away.

Reflection: It was slightly difficult coming up with some of these issues because I am not actively thinking about most of them unless they inconvenience me terribly, which none of them do. When I looked around my room and apartment while doing this assignment, I was able to notice a number of issues I have with my living situation, which I am not totally unhappy with. These problems can be solved if I am active in my efforts to solve them, others are just simple inconveniences.

  1. Hey Jacob, overall, I liked your list. I can really relate to your frustrations in regards to #1 on your bug list. I work for a restaurant and I have to sweep quite often to make sure the dining area looks presentable. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten annoyed with the dustpan as I feel I end up sweeping so much just to get everything in the pan. I also liked #10 on your list as I have also had my problems with the financial aid office.
